We trust that our colleagues know what qualities make a good care worker, which is why we encourage referring a friend or family member to apply!

And to show our gratitude for referring like-minded individuals to start their journey with First City, we have a fantastic refer a friend bonus scheme!

Our colleague, Hayley (photographed), who joined the team in 2016 recently referred her friend Kelly in January 2023. We caught up with both of them recently to talk about how they found the process...

Hayley:

1. What encouraged you to refer a friend to First City?

I love working for First City myself. I have been working for First City now for 7 years and couldn't imagine working anywhere else. Working here allows me to be flexible, so I have time for work commitment and time to spend with my family.

2. What qualities do you look for when referring a friend or family member?

Someone who is reliable, trustworthy, caring and shows empathy.

3. How did the process go?

It was a very smooth process, I chatted with my friend throughout the process, and it was very quick and smooth sailing.

4. What would you say to colleagues who may be considering referring their friend or family member?

I would definitely recommend them to refer a friend, it is very rewarding, not always easy but the sense of achievement you get from helping individuals is amazing.

5. Do you have any other comments to add?

I love that First City isn't just work to me, I have made some best friends working here, and my colleagues have always given and shown me so much support and compassion, and have seen me through some of my toughest days, making them that bit easier, thank you.

Kelly:

1. What encouraged you to apply for a position with First City?

The satisfaction you can get from helping others, and how friendly and welcoming the company/colleagues are.

2. How did you find the process?

The process ran very smoothly and wasn't daunting in any way.

3. Has your experience with First City been as expected by how your friend described the role and company?

Yes, most definitely. I am very happy to be a part of First City.

4. What do you enjoy most about working in healthcare?

How rewarding it can be, knowing that you have helped care for others. Also, putting a smile on their faces and making them happy.

5. Would you refer a friend or family member in the future? Or have you done so already?

Yes, I would happily refer a friend or family member.

6. Do you have any other comments to add?

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to finally find the job I love.

When considering changing career or organisation, it really can help to talk to someone you know about their experiences. Often easing anxieties, answering some queries and giving you a first look at what to expect. We are thankful to Hayley for sharing her enthusiasm for the healthcare industry to Kelly, and are delighted to hear that both colleagues would refer others in the future!
