One Hour of Care

We have celebrated nearly all of the positions that make First City, but there are a few other roles which we have yet to explore. While they may not seem to contribute to each hour of care on the surface, when you look deeper you can see that every colleague within First City truly does contribute to every single hour of care provided to our community.

Let us begin with our Wellbeing Lead.

Our Wellbeing Lead offers an additional avenue of support to colleagues throughout their employment as an extra contact to talk to, this can be about work or personal problems. When our Wellbeing Lead is unable to provide the correct support, they will signpost the individual to the correct avenue, or, when required, they may escalate issues, feedback suggestions to Department Leads or directly to our Senior Leadership Team.

In addition to support colleagues through their employment journey with First City, our Wellbeing Lead also touches base with staff after they have left the business for feedback on what we do well and where we may be able to improve. Helping to shape future decision making and better our service to customers and the employee experience.

Colleague Development & Mentoring Lead.

Our Colleague Development & Mentoring Lead visits colleagues during their shifts to observe and ensure best practice and quality care and support is being provided to our customers. They will support colleagues by recommending further training where required, feeding back compliments to Department Leads and discussing with colleagues about additional learning they may be interested in. Our Colleague Development & Mentoring Lead works closely with our internal Training colleagues to ensure courses are available to those who need it and observations are completed for colleagues to complete the Care Certificate.

With fantastic customer service skills, our Colleague Development & Mentoring Lead visits customers to discuss their experiences and feedback for the service, ensuring good news stories are celebrated and concerns are escalated in order for the business to learn and improve.

Recruitment Solutions.

Our colleagues within Recruitment Soltuions oversee the agency arm of First City, with their role encompassing aspects from multiple positions within First City, they recruit agency colleagues, ensure compliance throughout the process and arrange their training with our internal team, roster care calls and support the wellbeing of all staff within the department. Constantly collaborating with colleagues across First City, Recruitment Solutions support covering shifts for First City and partners during busy periods, due to sickness and holidays as well as supporting external organisations to recruit temporary and permanent staff for a variety of different roles across the Health and Social Care sector.

Digital Content Creator.

Our Digital Content Creator is sharing First City's story on social media and our website, the what we do and why we do it. Celebrating successes, as well as sharing experiences from customers and colleagues, to give our community an insight into the world of Health and Social Care.

Handyman.

Our handyman oversees the upkeep of First City House, including maintenance of the surrounding land and building (including liaising with external bodies who regularly provide safety checks), ensuring a safe car park especially during the colder season as well as more unique tasks which have included hand crafting a set of stocks for people to stand in at the wet sponge throw stall, during the celebration of our new office opening.

Cleaners.

Our cleaners remove waste, hoover the floors, clean surfaces and ensure a clean and hygenic environment within our office, which is vital especially since the Covid pandemic.

While these roles may not often interact with customers, if at all. They still contribute to every and every hour of care First City provides. Through upkeep of our office, a safe working environment is provided for colleagues working on site, including those who coordinate care calls, provide training and create support plans. Supporting wellbeing and motivation across the workforce, includes colleagues who are providing the hands-on support to our customers.

Stay tuned for our next post, exploring what a Senior Leadership Colleague contributes...
