1. What excites you about working in healthcare?

Making a difference to the many clients throughout the day. Putting a smile on a face, finding out about their past and listening to some of their stories. No two days are the same.

2. Tell us about your fondest memory when working with First City

Working with and among a lovely team that whatever happens in your day you can laugh together, for example: falling into a bush when out working and laughing so much about my own misfortune that our faces hurt. This shows that whatever happen in your day, there's always something to laugh about.

3. What advice would you give to someone new to care work?

Don't take anything personally, to have a strong stomach, caring and compassionate outlook, and to always smile, a smile works wonders.

4. Thinking about working for First City, how would you describe the company?

Extension of your family, try their best to accommodate all employees regardless of experience, ability and background, excellent in house training, the staff make the company - with good staff you have a good company. Without good and willing staff there is no company. All staff members are a reflection of the company and this shows in what is done daily.

5. Do you have any other comments about working in healthcare, for First City or more stories to share?

Over the 25 years that I have been involved in healthcare, in all various positions, I have always stood by one thing and kept this in mind "how would I want my family member treated" and this stays with me in every aspect and role that I carry out within the healthcare sector.
